Appointment of New Assistant Undersecretary in Housing Ministry

In a significant administrative change, King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain has issued Decree No. (50) for the year 2026. This decree appoints Ahmed Kamel Ahmed Al Sharif as the new Assistant Undersecretary for Housing Services in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning. This decision follows a proposal from the Minister of Housing and Urban Planning and received approval from the Council of Ministers.

Details of the Appointment

The decree, which will be effective immediately upon publication in the official gazette, officially names Ahmed Kamel Ahmed Al Sharif as the successor to Mariam Jumaa Khamis Al Filli. Al Sharif has previously held the position of Director of Developer Relations in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, contributing his experience in managing developer relationships and housing projects.

Implications for Housing Services

Al Sharif’s appointment is expected to have a positive impact on housing services in Bahrain. Officials believe that his background in developer relations will enhance the ministry’s ability to address housing needs effectively. As the new Assistant Undersecretary, Al Sharif will be tasked with overseeing various housing initiatives aimed at improving living conditions and accessibility in the country.

Furthermore, this appointment comes at a crucial time as the government is focusing on meeting the growing demand for housing within Bahrain’s rapidly urbanizing environment. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning has prioritized initiatives that cater to affordable housing, urban development, and sustainable living solutions, which are all pivotal in enhancing the quality of life for citizens.

Future Prospects and Initiatives

Looking ahead, it is anticipated that Al Sharif will spearhead various initiatives that align with Bahrain’s long-term vision for urban development. The focus will likely be on innovative housing solutions, effective land use, and collaboration with private developers to ensure a diverse range of housing options for all citizens. Additionally, the government’s infrastructure investment is expected to support these housing initiatives, facilitating better integrated urban growth.

As the ministry begins to implement the new strategies under Al Sharif’s leadership, stakeholders and citizens are encouraged to stay informed about updated housing policies and programs. The appointment marks a pivotal moment in the efforts to enhance Bahrain’s housing landscape, and the upcoming months will likely reveal ambitious plans and strategies to address pressing housing challenges.
