Olanrewaju: The Creative Force Behind ‘LANRE ARO SIGNATURE’
Olanrewaju Aroworayi’s lifelong passion for fashion began at an early age, when his curiosity and love for clothing led him to learn tailoring and garment construction. What started as a passion gradually developed into a professional career built on creativity, technical skill, determination, and a strong connection to African culture.
In 2018, shortly after completing his studies in Fashion Design at Yaba College of Technology in Lagos, Nigeria, Olanrewaju moved to the United Arab Emirates, where he began working professionally as a Designer and Master Cutter. His experience in the UAE exposed him to a diverse international clientele and strengthened his expertise in garment construction, pattern development, precision cutting, and bespoke tailoring.
Four years later, on April 18, 2022, he proudly launched his own fashion brand — LANRE ARO SIGNATURE.
Today, LANRE ARO SIGNATURE is an Afro-luxury fashion brand operating between Abu Dhabi, UAE, and Nigeria, creating contemporary fashion for both men and women while also developing designs for children and special occasions.
The brand specialises in bridalwear, haute couture, luxury ready-to-wear, eveningwear, modest couture, traditional African menswear, bespoke tailoring, and occasion wear.
At the heart of Olanrewaju’s creative practice is a desire to reinterpret African identity through contemporary fashion. His designs combine African textiles such as Ankara, Adire, and Aso Oke with modern silhouettes, structured tailoring, embroidery, and contemporary construction techniques.
Rather than simply reproducing traditional clothing, LANRE ARO SIGNATURE explores how African fabrics, cultural references, and craftsmanship can be transformed into fashion that speaks to today’s global consumer.
Since launching the brand, Olanrewaju has continued to build its presence through fashion exhibitions, cultural events, and international opportunities. His work has been showcased in the UAE and Nigeria, including events connected with Nigeria’s Independence celebrations in Dubai, and he has presented designs inspired by African culture to diverse audiences in the UAE.
His creative journey has also taken the brand beyond the UAE and Nigeria, with clients, opportunities, and market connections extending to countries including the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Finland, and other European markets.
Olanrewaju’s work has received recognition within the fashion and creative sector, including being named Best Outstanding Nigeria Fashion Designer in the UAE by Lady in Business Global in 2023. His work and journey have also received media attention from platforms including Tribune and GlamCityz, while his creative contributions have continued to attract attention within African and UAE fashion communities.
Beyond fashion design, Olanrewaju is passionate about using fashion as a platform for cultural storytelling, entrepreneurship, and creative development. He believes African fashion can compete internationally while maintaining the authenticity and richness of its heritage.
He also encourages aspiring designers to develop more than just creative ability. According to Olanrewaju, passion, consistency, creativity, technical skills, business knowledge, and effective time management are essential for anyone hoping to build a sustainable career in the fashion industry.
