Oman Air has announced a year of significant growth and achievement in 2025, marking a crucial step forward in its ambitious transformation program. The airline reported robust commercial performance, exceeding global market trends and solidifying its position as a key player in the aviation industry. This success is attributed to strategic initiatives focused on operational efficiency, sustainable expansion, and a heightened focus on passenger satisfaction.

Oman Air’s 2025: A Year of Record Growth

The numbers speak for themselves. Oman Air successfully transported approximately 5.8 million passengers in 2025, representing an impressive 8% increase compared to 2024. More remarkably, this figure demonstrates a substantial 57% jump from 2022 levels, showcasing a powerful recovery and growth trajectory. This surge in passenger numbers highlights the increasing appeal of Oman as a travel destination and Oman Air’s ability to capitalize on this momentum.

Driving Passenger Traffic to the Sultanate

A key indicator of this success is the growth in passenger traffic directly arriving in Oman. This segment witnessed an unprecedented annual increase of 34%, now accounting for 64% of the airline’s total passenger count. This demonstrates Oman Air’s effectiveness in attracting tourists and business travelers directly to the Sultanate, boosting the local economy and supporting the nation’s tourism goals. The airline is actively contributing to Oman’s vision of becoming a leading tourism hub.

Optimizing Operations and Enhancing Guest Experience

Beyond sheer passenger numbers, Oman Air’s commercial performance in 2025 was also driven by improvements in operational efficiency and a commitment to a superior guest experience. The airline’s load factor, a crucial metric for profitability, rose from 76% in 2024 to 82% in 2025 – a 6% annual increase and a 26% jump compared to 2022. This improvement is directly linked to more disciplined network and revenue management strategies.

The airline didn’t just focus on filling seats; it focused on filling the right seats, optimizing routes and pricing to maximize revenue. This strategic approach is a cornerstone of the ongoing transformation program. Furthermore, Oman Air has been investing heavily in upgrading its fleet and enhancing in-flight services, all contributing to a more enjoyable travel experience for passengers.

Salalah Route Expansion & New Market Penetration

Oman Air demonstrated a particular commitment to domestic tourism and connectivity with a significant expansion of its services to Salalah. Seat capacity on the Muscat–Salalah route increased by 17% in 2025 compared to the previous year, and by 19% compared to 2022. This increased capacity translated into a 19% passenger increase year-on-year and a 36% increase compared to 2022, proving the demand for travel between the two cities.

However, the growth wasn’t limited to domestic routes. Oman Air launched its first direct charter flights between Moscow and Salalah in 2025, opening up a new and promising market. Plans are already underway to expand these services to additional Russian cities in 2026, followed by a strategic push into other European markets starting in 2027. This international expansion is a vital component of the airline’s long-term growth strategy.

Future Tourism Impact

These expansion initiatives are projected to attract an additional 580,000 passengers to Salalah by 2030. This influx of tourists is expected to generate revenues exceeding RO 320 million, providing a substantial boost to the local economy and supporting job creation within the tourism sector. The airline’s commitment to Salalah is a clear demonstration of its dedication to supporting regional development. Airline revenue is expected to continue its upward trend as a result.

Commitment to National Responsibility & Transformation Progress

Oman Air also demonstrated a strong sense of national responsibility by maintaining fixed ticket prices for Omani citizens traveling on the Muscat–Salalah route throughout the year, including the popular Khareef (autumn) season. This commitment ensured affordable travel options for citizens during peak periods, fostering domestic tourism and strengthening national unity. Simultaneously, the airline increased flight frequency to accommodate the growing demand.

According to Con Korfiatis, CEO of Oman Air, these results are a direct reflection of the progress made within the airline’s comprehensive transformation strategy. He emphasized the focus on improving commercial performance and optimizing resource utilization, alongside a renewed dedication to the passenger experience. The transformation program, launched in 2023, is aimed at achieving financial break-even within a record timeframe, all while upholding international service standards and delivering sustainable value to all stakeholders. Fleet modernization is also a key component of this transformation.

Looking Ahead: Sustainable Growth and Financial Stability

Oman Air’s 2025 performance is a testament to the effectiveness of its transformation program. The airline is not only attracting more passengers and increasing revenue but is also doing so in a sustainable and responsible manner. The focus on operational efficiency, strategic network expansion, and a commitment to customer satisfaction positions Oman Air for continued success in the years to come.

The airline’s journey towards financial break-even is well underway, and the positive trends observed in 2025 provide a strong foundation for achieving this goal. Oman Air is poised to become a leading global airline, contributing significantly to the economic growth and tourism development of the Sultanate of Oman.
