The 47th World Military Parachuting Championship, also known as CISM Qatar 2025, is set to kick off on Saturday at Umm Al-Shokhot Airfield and will run through November 23. The event will feature 320 skydivers from 30 countries competing in three events for both men and women: the four-way formation, style, and landing.
A total of 30 countries, including Algeria, Germany, Austria, Bahrain, the United States, Belgium, Brazil, Russia, China, South Korea, Denmark, the United Arab Emirates, Spain, France, Egypt, Italy, Kuwait, Latvia, Morocco, Oman, the Netherlands, Poland, Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Tunisia, Turkey, and host country Qatar, will participate in the championship. Additionally, Slovakia will be present to receive the flag for the next edition of the event.
Preparations for CISM Qatar 2025
The Supreme Organizing Committee for the Championship, chaired by Brigadier General Mohammed bin Zayed Al Otaibi, has announced the completion of all arrangements and preparations for the opening ceremony and the official start of the parachuting competitions. The committee has mobilized its personnel and expertise to ensure the success of this major international event at a level befitting Qatar’s reputation as a global sporting destination.
Lt. Colonel Abdullah Saeed Al Mansouri, Vice Chairman of the Qatar Air Sports Committee, welcomed the participants to the championship, describing it as a special challenge for Qatari air sports. He noted that all teams had arrived in Doha and had begun their training and preparations immediately following the official opening ceremony. The Qatar Air Sports Committee has also conducted a technical meeting with the International Military Sports Council (CISM) to address technical, organizational, and refereeing arrangements.
Competitions and Events
The parachuting competitions will feature three events for both men and women: the four-way formation, style, and landing. The Qatari skydiving team is currently training in preparation for the competitions, particularly the target landing event, with high morale and ambition to win the title on home soil and in front of its fans.
The event will also feature a fan zone, offering many surprises for attendees. The Qatar Air Sports Committee invites Qatari citizens, residents, and visitors to come to Umm Al-Shokhot Airfield to experience the global sporting event and enjoy the spectacular performances of the champions of the CISM Qatar 2025 World Military Skydiving Championships.
Air Sports Museum
As part of the preparations, the Supreme Organizing Committee and its working committees conducted inspection tours to ensure the readiness of the championship venue. These tours included rehearsals and technical tests of the opening ceremony scenario, as well as arrangements for the opening of the Air Sports Museum, one of the championship’s surprises.
The championship is expected to be a significant event for Qatar, showcasing its capabilities in hosting major international sporting events. The outcome of the competitions will be closely watched, with the Qatari team aiming to win the title on home soil. The event is set to conclude on November 23, and the next steps will be determined after the championship.
