The FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025 has concluded its group stage, bringing together 48 teams from across the globe at the state-of-the-art Competition Complex in Aspire Zone, Doha. This edition is the largest in the tournament’s history, featuring 72 consecutive matches over nine days, a first for any FIFA competition.

A total of 250 goals were scored during the group stage, marking a new milestone for the tournament. The event also witnessed the biggest victory in FIFA U-17 World Cup history, with Morocco’s 16-0 win over New Caledonia. Notable performances included Czechia’s Vit Skrkon scoring a hat-trick in just seven minutes and Belgium’s Rene Mitongo registering a super hat-trick.

FIFA U-17 World Cup Sets New Standards

The tournament’s success was highlighted by its expanded format, which included a knockout Round of 32. Debutants such as Republic of Ireland, Uganda, and Zambia joined defending champions Germany and four-time winners Brazil in advancing to the next round. Three teams from the Arab world – Morocco, Tunisia, and Egypt – also qualified for the Round of 32.

Jassim Al Jassim, CEO of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), praised Qatar’s organisational excellence in hosting the event. “Qatar has created history yet again by hosting the biggest edition of a World Cup, showcasing its commitment to youth football development,” he said. FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafström noted that the expanded FIFA U-17 World Cup 2025 is taking global youth football “to the next level.”

Tournament Operations and Infrastructure

The event was supported by extensive infrastructure, including 12 hotels for teams and officials, 16 training pitches, and a centralised venue with eight pitches. The compact format allowed fans to attend multiple matches daily with a single ticket, creating a festival-like atmosphere. A total of 52,657 spectators attended group stage matches, with the tournament featuring various accessibility features for disabled fans.

The LOC utilised a diverse workforce of 833 personnel and 465 volunteers from 35 nationalities to deliver the tournament. Medical support was provided by Aspetar, with five on-site clinics available for players and spectators. A fully equipped media centre served as a hub for 1,153 accredited media professionals.

Key Statistics from the Tournament

The tournament featured several notable statistics, including 1,008 players competing in the group stage and 364 training sessions held across 16 training pitches. The event also showcased Qatar’s robust public transportation network, with 43 buses utilised for teams and spectators.

As the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025 progresses to the Round of 32 on November 14-15 at the Aspire Zone, fans can purchase tickets exclusively from www.roadtoqatar.qa. The tournament continues to attract global attention for its unique hosting concept and the emerging talent on display.
