The Qatar Clasico clash in Doha between Al Sadd and Al Rayyan ended with a thrilling 2-1 victory for Al Sadd, with Akram Afif playing a pivotal role in the late comeback. The Asian Player of the Year scored a late winner and provided an assist to Mohammed Waad after being brought on as a substitute. Despite Al Rayyan taking the lead with Trezeguet’s goal, Al Sadd quickly equalized before scoring the winner, thanks to Afif’s contributions. The victory brought Al Sadd to 18 points, just one behind league leaders Al Duhail.

In the game, Al Rayyan dominated the early exchanges, with goalkeeper Meshaal Barsham making crucial saves to keep the score level. Despite multiple opportunities, Al Rayyan was unable to convert their chances into goals. Eventually, Trezeguet opened the scoring for Al Rayyan, but their lead was short-lived as Waad equalized for Al Sadd. Afif then scored the winner in the 89th minute with a smart chip over the Al Rayyan goalkeeper.

In other matches, Al Gharafa defeated Al Arabi 3-1, with Yacine Brahimi, Joselu, and Mohammed Muntari getting on the scoresheet for Al Gharafa. Al Arabi’s only goal came from Youssef Msakni. Meanwhile, Qatar SC secured a 2-1 victory over Al Khor, with goals from Ahmed Abdel Kader and Ilyas Hamid Maxence Brimil. Abdollah Ali Saei scored the equalizer for Al Khor.

The latest round of fixtures also saw Al Sadd move one step closer to league leaders Al Duhail, while Al Rayyan’s missed opportunities cost them a crucial victory. The win was especially significant for Al Sadd as they bid to defend their league title. Afif’s impact off the bench was instrumental in turning the game around and securing the important three points for his team.

In upcoming matches, Al Duhail will face Al Shamal, while Al Sadd will be looking to continue their winning streak against Umm Salal. The Qatar Stars League promises to deliver more exciting moments as the competition intensifies among the top teams in the league. The performance of key players like Afif will continue to be crucial in determining the outcomes of matches and shaping the league standings.

Overall, the Qatar Clasico clash provided an intense and dramatic showdown between two of the top teams in the league, showcasing the quality and competitiveness of Qatari football. The league table is set for a tight race at the top, with teams jostling for crucial points in each fixture. As the season progresses, fans can expect more thrilling encounters and standout performances from the best players in the league as they vie for supremacy.
