The Kingdom of Bahrain is set to host the Global Water, Energy, and Climate Change Congress from February 23-25, 2025, with the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa. This congress will bring together global leaders and experts to discuss effective solutions for adapting to water and energy security challenges amidst growing concerns about climate change impact.
H.E. Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Bin Daina, Minister of Oil and Environment, emphasized Bahrain’s efforts to maintain environmental security by aligning with the Comprehensive Development Program led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He also acknowledged the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in adopting policies that contribute to reducing climate change and protecting water resources.
Dr. Bin Daina highlighted the efforts of the Water Resources Council to enhance water production efficiency in line with global standards and best practices for water sustainability. Bahrain’s National Water Strategy and Executive Plan 2030 aim to ensure effective management of the water sector to support sustainable development, with 32 initiatives focused on providing a sustainable supply of high-quality water to various sectors.
The first edition of the congress in September 2023 produced key recommendations promoting investment in research and development, fostering environmental partnerships, advancing renewable energy sources like hydrogen, and encouraging financial institutions to fund sustainability projects. The success of the inaugural event led to the anticipation of over 2500 participants, 250 specialized companies, and 200 expert speakers in the water and energy sectors at the upcoming second edition.
The second edition of the Global Water, Energy, and Climate Change Congress is an opportunity for global leaders and experts to come together and discuss effective solutions for tackling water and energy security challenges in the face of climate change. Bahrain’s commitment to environmental sustainability, as outlined by H.E. Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Bin Daina, Minister of Oil and Environment, showcases the nation’s dedication to ensuring the effective and safe management of its water resources.
With the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Bahrain has adopted policies aimed at reducing climate change impact and protecting and developing water resources. The Water Resources Council, chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister, is working towards enhancing water production efficiency according to global standards, as outlined in Bahrain’s National Water Strategy and Executive Plan 2030. The second edition of the congress is expected to attract a large number of participants, companies, and expert speakers, building on the success of the inaugural event in 2023.
