Louise Heatley, a British expatriate living in the UAE for 28 years, reflects on her journey in Dubai and the city’s growth over the years. As the owner of Exclusive Links Real Estate Brokers, she has witnessed the Emirate’s progression and success. Moving to Dubai in 1996, Heatley has seen the city evolve into a hub of opportunities with an “anything is possible” attitude that has shaped her views on money and wealth.

Heatley describes money as a valuable resource in her life, offering both opportunities and challenges. She respects the power of money and understands the importance of managing it wisely. Her relationship with money has been shaped by her experiences of financial independence and the lessons learned from her mother about saving and planning for the future.

Living in the UAE has provided Heatley with unique opportunities and perspectives on wealth. She appreciates the supportive network of like-minded individuals who celebrate each other’s financial growth and accomplishments. While she values spending on creating memories and experiences with loved ones, Heatley believes in long-term financial planning and investing in real estate for retirement security.

Heatley’s advice to her younger self or her child about money is to be cautious of investments that sound too good to be true. She emphasizes the importance of being financially responsible and only investing or lending money that one can afford to lose. Heatley prefers to splurge on travel and holiday experiences, considering them as valuable investments in creating lasting memories.

When it comes to money management, Heatley believes in saving at least 20% of her monthly salary towards her long-term financial goals. She acknowledges the importance of balance in spending and saving, staying mindful of her financial decisions and planning for the future. Overall, Heatley’s journey in the UAE has taught her valuable lessons about money, success, and the significance of financial independence.
