The Ministry of Works (MOW) in Bahrain is gearing up for a significant infrastructure upgrade as they have appointed a renowned international consultant for the development of Prince Saud Al Faisal Highway. This project will cover Phase-1B and Phase-2 of the highway, along with other key roadways, in order to improve Bahrain’s transportation network. Seven companies have submitted bids for the project, with bid amounts ranging from BHD 3,780,507.500 to BHD 769,618.300. Bidders include Pan Arab Consulting Engineers, Egis International, and Parsons Global Services, among others.
The chosen consultant will be tasked with conducting technical feasibility studies, creating concept and preliminary designs, and providing detailed design and tender assistance for the project. A key aspect of the project is designing a grade separator across the Shaikh Khalifa Bin Salman Causeway to alleviate traffic congestion, as well as planning footbridges at strategic locations to enhance pedestrian access. Additionally, the consultant will develop a Concept Masterplan for a new corniche north of Prince Saud Al Faisal Highway, incorporating reclamation works to transform the area into a recreational and scenic space.
This infrastructure upgrade is in line with Bahrain’s ongoing efforts to modernize its infrastructure and enhance urban spaces, with a focus on improving traffic flow, connectivity, and the overall quality of life for residents. The project aims to not only improve the transportation network but also to add to Bahrain’s public amenities by creating new recreational spaces. The appointment of a renowned international consultant is a testament to Bahrain’s commitment to developing and enhancing its infrastructure to cater to the needs of its growing population.
By investing in this significant infrastructure upgrade, Bahrain is positioning itself as a progressive and forward-thinking nation that is prioritizing the well-being and convenience of its residents. The development of Prince Saud Al Faisal Highway and other key roadways will not only improve traffic flow and connectivity but also create new recreational spaces for the public to enjoy. This project demonstrates Bahrain’s commitment to continuous improvement and development, and sets a benchmark for future infrastructure projects in the region.
