Five Bahraini travelers have been detained in Yemen since August 1st, prompting concerns and calls for government intervention. MP Jalal Kazim Al Mahfoudh has taken up the case and is actively engaging with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to secure their release. The travelers embarked on a road trip from Bahrain to Salalah, Oman, crossing into Yemen legally with the intention of continuing their journey to Abha, Saudi Arabia. However, they were detained at a security checkpoint in Marib by forces affiliated with the Yemeni government.

Al Mahfoudh emphasized that the travelers were well-known in the community for their adventurous travels and had entered Yemen solely for transit purposes. Urgent communication channels have been established with relevant authorities, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working diplomatically to secure their release. The families of the detained travelers appeal to Bahraini authorities for swift action.

Zakaria Mehdi Abdulrasul, father of two of the detained travelers, described his sons and their friends as avid travelers with a passion for exploration. The detained travelers, including Mehdi and Hadi, had chosen to travel to Abha via Yemen to shorten their journey, but were detained by Yemeni forces. The families lost contact with the travelers on August 1st and are anxiously awaiting news of their well-being.

Abdulrasul highlighted his sons’ reputation as travelers, with their social media accounts showcasing their adventures across continents. Mehdi works in land transportation and travels frequently for work. The families are hopeful for the swift and safe return of their loved ones and urge Bahraini authorities to take immediate action.
