Could Bahrain’s Desalinated Water be Leading to Hair Loss?

Living in Bahrain can bring about challenges when it comes to maintaining healthy hair. One of the main culprits causing hair shedding and thinning is the desalinated water that is commonly used in the kingdom. This water is high in minerals and chlorine, which can be damaging to the hair shaft, leaving it dry, brittle, and prone to breakage. This can often be mistaken for excessive hair fall, when in reality it is just damaged hair coming out.

Aside from the harsh desalinated water, other environmental factors in Bahrain, such as the sweltering heat and humidity, can also contribute to hair damage. Daily washing, exposure to air conditioning, sun, and chlorinated pools can all play a role in causing hair woes. To combat these effects, it is important to establish a hair care routine that is tailored to the harsh conditions in Bahrain.

When it comes to caring for your hair in Bahrain, it is important to use gentle, extra-moisturizing hair care products that are specifically designed to prevent damage from desalinated water and the harsh desert climate. Additionally, it is advisable to avoid over-drying and excessive use of hot styling tools, as well as harsh chemical processes like bleaching and straightening. Instead, opt for natural and warmed oils like coconut, olive, or castor oil to moisturize your hair.

To minimize the damage caused by desalinated water, try to wash your hair only once per week using a gentle, sulfate-free shampoo. In between washes, consider using a dry shampoo to absorb excess oil and refresh your style. Deep conditioning treatments are also recommended to replenish moisture and keep your hair healthy. Additionally, protect your hair from the sun by wearing a wide-brimmed hat when outdoors.

By taking these steps and giving your hair some extra care, you can combat the effects of Bahrain’s tough water and climate on your locks. Remember that it’s not you, it’s the water! With a little bit of TLC and the right products, you can keep your hair looking its best despite the challenging conditions in Bahrain.
