Etihad Airways, the national airline of the UAE, will be deploying its iconic Airbus A380 to Mumbai for a special four-month period, commemorating 20 years since its first flight to the city. The double-decker aircraft will operate three weekly flights between Abu Dhabi and Mumbai from 1 September to 31 December 2024. Etihad currently offers non-stop services to 11 Indian cities with plans for further expansion.

To celebrate the A380’s visit to Mumbai, Etihad is offering special fares including first class and business class options. First class fares start at Dh8,380 from Abu Dhabi to Mumbai and Rs190,383 (around Dh8329) from Mumbai to Abu Dhabi on a return ticket. Business class fares start at Dh2,380 from Abu Dhabi to Mumbai and Rs50,381 (around Dh2,200) from Mumbai to Abu Dhabi on a return ticket. The special fares are available until 25 August for travel between 1 September and 13 October.

Etihad recently launched a Hindi website, becoming the first international airline operating in India to do so, allowing customers to access information in their preferred language. Arik De, Etihad’s Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer, expressed excitement for the A380’s deployment to Mumbai as part of the airline’s 20-year celebration of service to India. The A380 will operate on the Mumbai route three days a week for four months.

Passengers flying economy can enjoy additional space on Economy Extra Legroom seats, as well as fixed-wing headrests and large pillows on Economy Smart Seats. The Business Studios on the upper deck of the A380 feature 70 private suites with Wi-Fi connectivity and a lobby lounge area. The First Apartments offer nine private suites with tableware and an ottoman that converts into a bed, as well as personalised amenities and access to an exclusive shower room for first-class passengers.

Etihad’s ties to India extend beyond its services, with sponsorship of Chennai Super Kings and a brand ambassador partnership with Bollywood superstar Katrina Kaif. By early 2025, Etihad Airways will have its sixth A380 in operation. This special deployment of the A380 to Mumbai highlights Etihad’s commitment to providing a luxurious and comfortable travel experience for passengers flying between Abu Dhabi and Mumbai. With special fares, additional amenities, and a focus on customer satisfaction, Etihad aims to make the upcoming four-month period a memorable one for passengers traveling on the iconic aircraft.
