Qatar is participating in the 44th King Abdulaziz International Competition for the Memorization, Recitation, and Interpretation of the Holy Qur’an, with two representatives competing in different categories. Omar Mubarak Saeed Haswan Al Marri is representing Qatar in the category of memorizing the entire Holy Qur’an, while Abdulallah Turki Muhammad Al Turki Al Subaie is competing in the category of memorizing 15 Juz (parts). The preliminary qualifiers for the competition began last Friday, with the final qualifiers scheduled to take place in the Grand Mosque in Makkah under the supervision of the Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance.

A total of 166 contestants from 117 countries around the world are participating in this prestigious competition, all vying for the SAR4m prize. The competition includes five categories, each requiring different levels of memorization, recitation, and interpretation skills. The categories range from memorizing the entire Qur’an in the seven authentic recitations (al-Qira’at al-Sab’a) to memorizing five Juz with correct recitation and intonation. Participants from non-member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation have their own category for memorizing five Juz with proper recitation and intonation.

The King Abdulaziz International Competition is a significant event in the Islamic world, attracting talented individuals from various countries who have dedicated themselves to memorizing and reciting the Holy Qur’an with precision and reverence. The competition provides a platform for these participants to showcase their skills and dedication to the preservation and dissemination of the Qur’anic teachings. It also promotes unity and camaraderie among Muslims from different backgrounds and nationalities, highlighting the universal appeal and importance of the Holy Qur’an in the lives of believers.

Qatar’s participation in the competition reflects the country’s commitment to promoting Islamic education and culture on an international level. By sending representatives to such prestigious events, Qatar not only showcases its support for the memorization and recitation of the Holy Qur’an but also demonstrates its investment in nurturing the talents and skills of its citizens. The competition serves as an opportunity for participants to enhance their knowledge of the Qur’an and deepen their spiritual connection with the divine scripture, contributing to their personal growth and development.

The competition also serves as a platform for promoting intercultural dialogue and understanding among participants from diverse backgrounds. Through their shared passion for the Holy Qur’an, participants from different countries come together to celebrate the beauty and significance of Islamic teachings, fostering mutual respect and appreciation for each other’s cultures and traditions. This exchange of knowledge and experiences enriches the participants’ understanding of Islam and strengthens their bonds as members of the global Muslim community, emphasizing the values of unity and cooperation in spreading the message of peace and compassion.

In conclusion, Qatar’s participation in the 44th King Abdulaziz International Competition for the Memorization, Recitation, and Interpretation of the Holy Qur’an signifies the country’s dedication to promoting Islamic values and traditions on a global scale. Through the participation of its representatives, Qatar highlights its commitment to cultural enrichment, education, and spiritual growth, while fostering unity and solidarity among Muslims worldwide.
