The Ministry of Sports and Youth, in collaboration with the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS), organized a discussion session on “From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development and Youth Leadership in Developing Charitable and Humanitarian Work.” The session, held on International Youth Day (IYD) which falls on August 12 each year, aimed at addressing various topics related to youth and enhancing volunteer work among young people and members of society. The deputy head of the 10th Disaster Management Camp at QRCS, Ahmed Hamad Al Shahwani, emphasized the importance of young people in volunteer work and development, especially in the context of technology’s impact on volunteerism. Al Shahwani highlighted the growing culture of volunteering and expressed hope for more organized volunteer work in the face of future challenges.
During the discussion session, Al Shahwani pointed out that the prosperity of countries is closely tied to the number of volunteers they have. He noted that the QRCS has successfully highlighted models that have provided valuable experiences in volunteer work at global events, including IYD. The QRCS currently boasts a volunteer base of 31,000 individuals of varying genders, and Al Shahwani expressed hope for this number to grow in the future through the active recruitment and engagement of young people.
