Qatar’s beach volleyball duo, Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan, kicked off their Paris Olympic campaign with a strong victory against Italy’s Paolo Nicolai and Samuele Cottafava. The Qatari pair, who won bronze at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, defeated the Italian team in straight sets (21-19, 21-18) in their opening match at the Eiffel Tower Stadium. They will face Sweden’s David Ahman and Jonatan Hellvig next, followed by a match against Mark Nicolaidis and Izac Carracher.

In another event, Team Qatar swimmer Abdulaziz Al Obaidly competed in the 100m breaststroke qualifying heat at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Al Obaidly finished sixth in Heat 2 with a time of 1:04.31. Despite not qualifying for the next round, Al Obaidly expressed satisfaction with his performance and emphasized the importance of continuous improvement to reach the top level of competition.
