Qatari athletes aiming to make an impression in Paris

The 33rd edition of the Summer Olympics (Paris 2024) is just around the corner, and Team Qatar is gearing up for the event with 14 athletes competing in five different sports. Leading the pack is Mutaz Barshim, the world champion in athletics, who aims to defend his Olympic gold medal from Tokyo 2020. Barshim is joined by fellow athletes such as Abderrahman Samba, Bassem Hemeida, and Ismail Dawood, who have all earned their spots through impressive performances in international competitions.

In addition to athletics, Qatar will also be represented in shooting by Saeed Abusharib and Rashid Saleh Al Athba, as well as weightlifting by Fares Ibrahim. The Qatari beach volleyball team, consisting of Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan, will be making their third consecutive appearance in the Olympics, hoping to build on their bronze medal win in Tokyo 2020. Swimmer Abdulaziz Al Obaidly will also be competing in the 200-meter breaststroke event, looking to make a mark on the global stage.

As the athletes eagerly anticipate the start of the Olympics, they are focused on delivering top-notch performances and achieving commendable results for Qatar. Mutaz Barshim and Shahad Mohamed have been chosen to carry the national flag at the opening ceremony, symbolizing the pride and honor they feel in representing their country on the world stage.
