Thousands of fans gathered at Cibeles Square in Madrid to celebrate the Spanish national football team’s victory at Euro 2024. The team returned home to a warm welcome from King Felipe VI and Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez before being paraded through the streets in an open-top bus. The bus was decorated with the message “it’s only the beginning” and displayed the trophy prominently.

Players such as Lamine Yamal, Nico Williams, and match-winner Mikel Oyarzabal wore white t-shirts with the number four to signify Spain’s fourth European Championship win. Despite their success, Williams expressed that the team has yet to fully grasp the magnitude of their accomplishment. He also took the opportunity to thank the fans for their unwavering support throughout the tournament.

The celebrations continued at Plaza Cibeles, where thousands more fans had gathered to show their appreciation for the team’s historic victory. This latest triumph adds to Spain’s previous European Championship wins in 1964, 2008, and 2012. Prime Minister Sanchez expressed the team’s desire for further success, stating, “We want a lot. We want more”, reflecting the team’s ambitious goals for the future.

The team’s journey to victory culminated in a 2-1 win over England in the Euro 2024 final, with Nico Williams scoring the opening goal. The players were visibly elated as they celebrated their success on stage in front of adoring fans. The festive atmosphere in Madrid captured the excitement and pride that the nation felt following the team’s remarkable achievement.

Despite their triumphant return, the players remained humble and focused on the journey ahead. They acknowledged the support of the fans and expressed gratitude for the love and warmth shown by the Spanish supporters. The celebrations at Cibeles Square epitomized the unity and joy that comes with sporting success, as fans and players alike reveled in the shared experience of victory.

As Spain basks in the glory of their Euro 2024 triumph, the nation looks towards the future with renewed optimism and determination. The team’s resounding success has inspired a new generation of fans and players alike, setting the stage for further achievements on the international stage. The celebrations in Madrid served as a testament to the unwavering support and passion that surrounds Spanish football, showcasing the enduring connection between the team and its loyal fanbase.
