The Ministry of Works in Bahrain is currently working on three development projects in the Mahzoora and Hajiyat areas of Riffa with the aim of improving traffic flow and easing movement for citizens and residents. These projects are expected to increase road capacity by 50%, which will significantly reduce congestion in the city.
The first project focuses on the development of Mahzoora Avenue, Avenue 37, and Hajiyat Road. The goal of this project is to expand Mahzoora Avenue from two lanes to three lanes, from Road 3933 to Umm Al Naasan Avenue, in order to accommodate more vehicles and improve traffic flow. This development will increase the road’s capacity from 3,200 vehicles per hour to 4,800 vehicles per hour.
The second project involves the expansion of Mahzoora Avenue and Avenue 37 in Riffa. The plan is to add a third lane to Mahzoora Avenue between the intersection with Hajiyat Road and the National Charter Highway. Additionally, improvements will be made to the intersection itself, as well as the segment between Road 3701 and Road 3710. A drainage network for rainwater and pedestrian pavement will also be constructed as part of this project.
The third project focuses on the development of Hajiyat Road and the roundabout at the intersection of Hajiyat Road and Jeddah Road. The aim of this project is to enhance both roads and create a new roundabout, which will increase the intersection’s capacity by approximately 600 vehicles per hour. The new roundabout at the Jeddah Road intersection will increase capacity from 800 vehicles per hour to 1,500 vehicles per hour.
Overall, these development projects in the Mahzoora and Hajiyat areas of Riffa are expected to greatly benefit the citizens and residents of Bahrain by improving traffic flow and reducing congestion in the city. The Ministry of Works is working diligently to increase road capacity by 50% through various improvements and expansions to key roads and intersections in these areas. It is hoped that these projects will make commuting easier and more efficient for everyone in the community.
