Minister of Justice Walid Al-Samaani has recently made a series of decisions aimed at improving judicial safeguards and the quality of judgments in Saudi Arabia. One of the key decisions is the approval of a system where cases will be heard by a three-judge panel in criminal courts. This decision will be rolled out gradually in collaboration with relevant departments of the Supreme Judicial Council and the Ministry of Justice.

Additionally, Al-Samaani has also approved for family cases to be exclusively heard by the 12 personal status courts and exclusive personal status panels in general courts in regions without personal status courts. This move is intended to streamline and expedite the handling of family cases, ensuring that they are heard by judges specialized in family law.

The decisions taken by the Minister of Justice are part of ongoing efforts to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the judicial system in Saudi Arabia. By implementing a three-judge panel system in criminal courts and designating specific courts for family cases, the aim is to improve the quality of judgments and provide better access to justice for all citizens.

It is important to note that these decisions are being implemented gradually, with a focus on collaboration between different departments within the Supreme Judicial Council and the Ministry of Justice. This phased approach is intended to ensure the smooth implementation of the new measures and to address any potential challenges that may arise during the transition period.

The Minister of Justice’s commitment to promoting judicial safeguards and enhancing the quality of judgments is a positive step towards strengthening the rule of law in Saudi Arabia. By ensuring that cases are heard by specialized judges and implementing new systems to streamline the judicial process, the aim is to improve access to justice and uphold the rights of all citizens.

Overall, the recent decisions made by Minister of Justice Al-Samaani are a testament to the government’s commitment to continuously improve the judicial system in Saudi Arabia. By prioritizing efficiency, fairness, and quality in the handling of cases, these measures will contribute to a more transparent and effective legal system that serves the needs of the Saudi society.
