The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) in Bahrain recently conducted 817 inspection campaigns and visits between June 23 and June 29, 2024. These efforts led to the detention of 62 workers who were found to be in violation of labor laws, with 141 violators being deported. The inspections also uncovered various violations related to labor and residency laws in Bahrain, and appropriate legal actions were taken in response to these violations.

During the inspection period, 801 visits were conducted at different shops across all governorates, along with 16 joint inspection campaigns. These joint campaigns involved multiple government entities such as the Ministry of Interior, the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA), the Police Directorate, Sentences Enforcement Department, Bahrain Tourism and Exhibition Authority, and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce. The collaborative efforts of these agencies aim to ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations in the country.

The LMRA emphasized the importance of continued coordination with government agencies to enhance inspection activities across all governorates of Bahrain. These efforts are essential to address any violations that could negatively impact the stability and competitiveness of the labor market or threaten the economic and social security of the Kingdom. The LMRA called on all members of society to support these efforts by reporting any illegal labor practices through their website, call center, or the government’s Suggestions and Complaints System (Tawasul).

It is crucial for businesses and individuals in Bahrain to adhere to labor and residency laws to maintain a fair and stable labor market. By conducting regular inspections and taking appropriate legal actions against violators, the authorities are working towards creating a safe and supportive environment for both employers and workers. The joint efforts of various government entities in these inspection campaigns demonstrate a unified commitment to upholding labor laws and protecting the rights of workers in the Kingdom.

The LMRA’s focus on monitoring and addressing violations is essential to ensure the well-being of both local and migrant workers in Bahrain. By taking a proactive approach to enforcement, the authorities can prevent exploitation, unfair treatment, and other harmful practices in the labor market. These efforts not only benefit individual workers but also contribute to the overall economic growth and social stability of the country.

Overall, the recent inspection campaigns conducted by the LMRA highlight the government’s commitment to promoting a fair and compliant labor market in Bahrain. By addressing violations and enforcing labor laws, the authorities are working to create a positive environment for businesses and workers alike. Continued cooperation between government agencies and the public is crucial in maintaining the integrity of the labor market and protecting the rights of all workers in the Kingdom.
