Parents in the UAE are spending a significant amount of money on baby products and equipment during the first year of their child’s life, with an average investment of up to Dh98,800. This data comes from a study commissioned by The Baby Expo and conducted by Censuswide. The expenses mainly go towards items like strollers, car seats, high-chairs, nursery furniture, clothing, feeding and nursing supplies, maternity products, and bath and baby care items. The demand for baby products in the UAE is increasing as the population grows, presenting an opportunity for new brands to enter the market and meet the needs of parents.

Despite the high cost of baby products, budget-conscious parents in the UAE typically spend between Dh10,000 to Dh15,000 on their child’s first year. According to Leena Khalil, CEO of Mumzworld.com, popular items purchased during this time include strollers, cribs, car seats, diapers, baby clothing, feeding bottles, skincare products, educational toys, and books that support early development. Mumzworld offers a wide range of products for parents, from daily essentials and nursery furniture to children’s clothing and toys, with parent-friendly payment options and authentic products from trusted sources.

When shopping for baby products, over 53% of parents prioritize ease of use and convenience, followed by educational value and ease of cleaning and maintenance. These preferences indicate that today’s parents value products that are educational, convenient, utility-driven, and simplify parenthood. However, a significant number of parents express difficulties in finding certain baby products, such as maternity and postpartum items, technology and gadgets, health and safety essentials, bath and baby care items, toys, and equipment like strollers and car seats. This highlights a need for expanded resources and services to cater to the diverse needs of expectant and new mothers in the UAE.

The UAE has one of the highest per capita incomes globally, with an average income of nearly $87,729. This economic stability allows residents to invest in their children’s needs and purchase quality products. Ashleigh Lloyd, co-founder of The Baby Expo, acknowledges the growing demand for baby products and services in the country, creating a market opportunity for new brands to enter and meet the needs of parents. Products that resonate with today’s parents are educational, convenient, and focused on simplifying the parenting journey as much as possible.

In conclusion, parents in the UAE are willing to invest a significant amount of money on baby products and equipment during their child’s first year. The market for baby products is growing, driven by an increasing demand for necessities like strollers, cribs, car seats, and clothing. Budget-conscious parents look for affordable options while still prioritizing quality and authenticity. As parents prioritize convenience, educational value, and ease of use in their product choices, there is a need for expanded resources and services to cater to the diverse needs of expectant and new mothers in the region. This presents an opportunity for brands to innovate and provide solutions that simplify the parenting journey for families in the UAE.
