Arsenal secured a hard-fought 1-0 win against Manchester United at Old Trafford to move back to the top of the Premier League table. Leandro Trossard scored the only goal of the game as Arsenal ended their poor record away at United with just their second win in 17 games at the stadium. Despite this crucial win, Manchester City still have their fate in their hands with two games left in the season. The victory kept the pressure on City ahead of their upcoming match against Tottenham.

On the other hand, the defeat further dented United’s hopes of competing in Europe next season. Despite showing more fighting spirit than in their previous game, which ended in a 4-0 loss to Crystal Palace, United have now won just one of their last eight Premier League games and remain eighth in the table. The pressure on United boss Erik ten Hag increased following the defeat, with his decision to field Casemiro as a makeshift center-back coming under scrutiny after his poor performance.

Arsenal, on the other hand, have been in superb form in 2024, winning 15 and drawing one of their 17 league games since the start of the year. However, they were far from their best against United as the home side failed to launch an expected onslaught, with Arsenal holding on for a crucial win. Despite United’s efforts to get back into the game after the break, Arsenal’s defense held firm, securing their sixth clean sheet in their last seven away league games.

Arsenal’s Alejandro Garnacho was United’s standout player, but his efforts were not enough to breach Arsenal’s defense. Both Gabriel Martinelli and Declan Rice were denied by brilliant saves from Arsenal’s keeper Andre Onana to secure the win. As the game reached its closing stages, Arsenal showed their desperation to hold on to their lead, with Martinelli taking the ball to the corner in the final minutes. The win puts pressure on Manchester City, who are still in control of the title race, as they face a crucial fixture against West Ham on the final day of the season.

In conclusion, Arsenal’s win against Manchester United keeps their Premier League title dreams alive and puts them back at the top of the table. The victory also dents United’s hopes of competing in Europe next season, further increasing the pressure on manager Erik ten Hag. Arsenal’s strong defensive performance and ability to grind out wins in crucial games have been key to their success in 2024. With just one game left in the season, the title race remains wide open, and Arsenal will be hoping to secure their first league title in 20 years.
