Mohammad Amir, the 32-year-old Pakistan pacer, is gearing up for the T20 World Cup next month with a sense of unfinished business. The left-arm fast bowler, who shone as a teenager when Pakistan last won the trophy in 2009, is grateful for the opportunity to represent his country once again. Amir, who was jailed for spot-fixing in 2011, has made a comeback after coming out of retirement last month. His short-term goal is to win the World Cup and he is determined to make the most of this chance.

Amir made a remarkable start to his international career in 2009, impressing in all formats after breaking into the Pakistan side. However, his career took a dark turn in 2010 when he was banned from cricket for five years for his involvement in spot-fixing during a Test match in England. Along with two other players, Amir was caught in a newspaper sting and later served a six-month jail sentence in the UK. Despite the setbacks, he returned to cricket in 2016 but announced a surprise retirement in 2020 due to poor form.

Now, Amir is focused on making the most of his second chance and fulfilling the trust shown in him by the Pakistan Cricket Board and the team management. He is determined to contribute to Pakistan’s pace bowling attack alongside the likes of Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Haris Rauf. With the team being ranked among the World Cup favorites, Amir’s experience and skill will be crucial in their quest for the title. He is also looking forward to the upcoming series against Ireland and England to fine-tune his form.

Amir’s journey from a small village in Punjab province to international cricket has been an inspiring one. Discovered at a fast bowling camp by legendary cricketer Wasim Akram, he quickly rose through the ranks despite facing challenges like a stress fracture of the back. Amir cherishes the memories of Pakistan’s 2009 T20 World Cup victory and aims to create more memorable moments in his career. With a renewed focus and determination, he is ready to give his best for his team and make a significant impact at the upcoming World Cup.

As he prepares to represent Pakistan once again on the international stage, Amir is grateful for the opportunity to continue his cricketing journey. His love for the game and desire to succeed are evident as he aims to leave a mark at the T20 World Cup. With his talents and experience, Amir has the potential to play a pivotal role in Pakistan’s campaign and help them achieve success in the tournament. As he embarks on this new chapter in his career, fans and supporters will be eagerly watching to see how he performs and contributes to the team’s success.
