Sebastian Munoz from Torque GC showed an impressive performance in the first round of the $25 million 54-hole LIV Golf Singapore tournament at Sentosa Golf Club. The 31-year-old Colombian golfer shot a six under par 65 to take the lead, with a one-stroke advantage heading into the second round. He is closely followed by a group of six players, including Brooks Koepka, Martin Kaymer, Kevin Na, Thomas Pieters, Abraham Ancer, and Cameron Tringale. Joaquin Niemann from Torque GC, who is the current leader of the LIV Golf Individual Standings, is among the players one shot back.

After struggling with his game recently, Munoz credited his teammates at Torque GC for his improved performance. He mentioned that having solid teammates can make a significant difference in a player’s game. Despite ranking 27th in the season-long standings, Munoz expressed satisfaction with his current form and performance. Starting on hole eight in the shotgun start, Munoz had a strong start to his round with two quick birdies on holes 9 and 10, followed by five more birdies and a single bogey on hole 13.

Brooks Koepka, who was celebrating his 34th birthday, found his putting stroke during the round and carded a 66 with five birdies in his first seven holes. Thomas Pieters continued his impressive form with a bogey-free 66 that included an eagle on the par five 18th hole. Dubai-based Adrian Meronk also had a strong showing with a bogey-free 67, tying for eighth place. Out of the 52 players in the field, 34 broke par, with 28 players within four shots of Munoz, highlighting the competitiveness of the tournament.

In the team event, Fireballs GC and Smash GC are tied for the lead at 11 under par, with the best three scores from the team of four players counting on each hole. Other teams like RANGEGOATS GC, CLEEKS GC, and STINGER GC are also in contention with scores of -10. The packed leaderboard indicates that the competition is fierce, and any team could emerge victorious as the tournament progresses. Overall, the first round of the LIV Golf Singapore tournament showcased some outstanding performances from the players, setting the stage for an exciting and competitive event in the following rounds.
