The Met Gala 2024, known for its extravagant display of high fashion, saw the absence of some notable attendees, including Rihanna, Priyanka Chopra, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, and Katy Perry. Rihanna, a regular showstopper at previous Galas, skipped the event this year due to illness, breaking her streak of extravagant entrances. Contrary to rumors of her presence through AI-generated images, Rihanna was confirmed to be absent from the event.
Ben Affleck’s absence raised eyebrows, especially as his wife Jennifer Lopez was hosting the gala. However, conflicting schedules due to filming commitments for The Accountant 2 kept Ben Affleck away from the Met Gala. Concerns over Justin Bieber’s health were speculated as the reason for his and Hailey Bieber’s absence, with the couple reportedly focusing on Justin’s well-being amidst challenging times.
Priyanka Chopra’s absence, alongside Nick Jonas, left fans wondering about the couple’s priorities. Filming obligations were cited as the reason for Priyanka’s absence, expressing her regret at missing out on the Gala while still displaying affection for the event. Taylor Swift’s absence disappointed many, especially those hoping for a red carpet debut with Travis Kelce. Taylor’s commitment to her upcoming ‘Eras’ tour European leg took precedence over attending the Met Gala.
Katy Perry, a regular attendee at the Met Gala, was also missing from the event. A fake appearance of Perry circulated online, leading to confusion until she clarified her absence and humorously debunked the faux image. While many stars like Shawn Mendes, Deepika Padukone, Billy Porter, Lady Gaga, and Harry Styles were absent from the Met Gala, the event still managed to captivate audiences with its usual glamour and high-profile guests.
