The Cyber Security Council of UAE has issued an advisory urging citizens and residents to be vigilant and protect their digital financial transactions during Eid Al Adha. As cyber-attack threats tend to increase during the festive season, the authority emphasized the importance of safeguarding personal information to prevent such attacks, especially with the growing trend of digital transactions. In an awareness post, the council advised residents to stay informed and practice good security habits for a safer online experience.

One of the key recommendations from the council is to verify the authenticity of websites by checking for the lock code in the header bar and ensuring that the URL starts with “https”. Online users are also reminded to create strong passwords and avoid reusing them across different platforms. It is crucial to use unique, complex passwords for each account to enhance security and prevent unauthorized access.

Residents were specifically warned about phishing attempts and advised not to click on suspicious links or download anything from unknown sources. It is also important to avoid installing untrusted apps or software and only download applications from reputable sources to minimize the risk of malware infections. Regularly backing up important data and monitoring financial statements are additional measures recommended by the authority to safeguard against potential security threats.

In addition, the council highlighted the importance of being cautious of tech support scams. Residents are advised to be wary of unsolicited calls or pop-up messages claiming to be from tech support, as these could be attempts to obtain sensitive information or install malicious software on devices. By staying informed and following these security practices, online users can protect themselves from cyber threats and ensure a safe and secure online experience during Eid Al Adha.

In conclusion, the Cyber Security Council of UAE has issued a timely advisory to raise awareness about the importance of online security during Eid Al Adha. With cyber-attack threats on the rise, it is essential for residents to take precautions and protect their digital financial transactions. By staying informed, practicing good security habits, and implementing recommended security measures, individuals can minimize the risk of falling victim to cyber threats and ensure a safer online experience. It is crucial for online users to verify website authenticity, create strong passwords, avoid phishing attempts, backup important data, monitor financial statements, and be cautious of tech support scams to enhance their online security during this festive season.
