Louvre Abu Dhabi recently announced a new season of exhibitions that will feature diverse themes and collaborations, including educational workshops, interactive installations, and engaging events alongside the exhibitions. Manuel Rabaté, Director of Louvre Abu Dhabi, expressed the museum’s dedication to offering unique and enriching experiences to visitors, celebrating the rich heritage of art and encouraging dialogue and appreciation for diverse artistic expressions. The new season reflects the museum’s commitment to fostering dialogue, promoting cultural understanding, and celebrating human creativity. Dr Guilhem André, Acting Director of Scientific, Curatorial, and Collections Management at Louvre Abu Dhabi, highlighted the aim of creating a platform that transcends boundaries and brings people together through the universal language of art.

The upcoming exhibitions at Louvre Abu Dhabi include Louvre Abu Dhabi Art Here 2024 and the Richard Mille Art Prize, Post-Impressionism: Beyond Appearances, and Kings and Queens of Africa: Forms and Figures of Power. The Louvre Abu Dhabi Art Here exhibition, in partnership with Richard Mille, will feature site-specific monumental artworks by shortlisted artists, with one winner receiving the esteemed Richard Mille Art Prize. Post-Impressionism: Beyond Appearances, in partnership with Musée d’Orsay, will explore the period between 1886 and 1905, showcasing works from the Post-Impressionism movement, including Vincent van Gogh’s masterpiece, Van Gogh’s Bedroom in Arles. Kings and Queens of Africa: Forms and Figures of Power, in partnership with musée du quai Branly, will celebrate African royalty through a diverse collection of objects that explore the culture and beliefs intertwined with the lives of African kings and queens.

The Louvre Abu Dhabi exhibitions aim to provide visitors with a deeper understanding of different artistic movements, cultures, and narratives, fostering a connection to shared human experiences. The museum’s commitment to showcasing diverse artistic voices and celebrating cultural heritage is evident in the diverse lineup of exhibitions planned for the upcoming season. In addition to the exhibitions, Louvre Abu Dhabi will relaunch its White Canvas project, transforming outdoor areas of the museum into an external exhibition space through temporary art projections. This initiative aims to extend the gallery space into the museum’s park and surroundings, providing visitors with a unique and immersive artistic experience.

The collaboration with renowned institutions such as Musée d’Orsay and musée du quai Branly highlights Louvre Abu Dhabi’s commitment to showcasing world-class art and cultural heritage. By curating exhibitions that explore a wide range of artistic movements and cultural themes, the museum aims to promote dialogue, cultural understanding, and appreciation for diverse artistic expressions. Visitors can expect to be captivated by the unique artworks on display, including masterpieces from Vincent van Gogh and Georges Hanna Sabbagh, as well as fascinating objects from African royalty. The upcoming season of exhibitions at Louvre Abu Dhabi promises to offer something for everyone to enjoy and appreciate, providing a platform for cultural exchange and enrichment.
