The UAE-India Cepa Council (UICC) and the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen economic and trade ties between the UAE and India. The partnership aims to raise awareness of the potential of the UAE-India bilateral economic partnership and the UAE-India Cepa in particular. Through collaboration, both organizations will work towards increasing economic, investment, and trade engagement between the two nations. They will also engage in dialogue, information sharing, and the development of avenues for member awareness.

Abdulnasser Alshaali, the UAE ambassador to India, emphasized the importance of this collaboration in further fortifying economic ties between the UAE and India. The partnership aligns with the objectives of bolstering trade volumes, bringing equitable trade policies to enterprises in both nations, and creating opportunities for economic ties to flourish. The Indian Chamber of Commerce’s director-general, Dr. Rajeev Singh, expressed excitement about the partnership and the potential it holds for businesses in India and the UAE to capitalize on the Cepa and drive sustainable economic growth.

The UAE-India Cepa Council is committed to promoting economic cooperation and trade relations between the two countries. Through strategic partnerships and initiatives like the MoU signed with the ICC, the council aims to facilitate mutually beneficial opportunities for businesses in both nations. Since its establishment in early 2024, the UICC has significantly enhanced economic, investment, and trade ties between the UAE and India, leading to impressive growth in bilateral trade. The Cepa has catalyzed billions of dollars in investments, reduced trade barriers, and encouraged a dynamic exchange of goods and investments, diversifying economic engagement between the two nations.

The UICC actively organizes events and initiatives that promote deeper business ties and enhance mutual understanding, underscoring its commitment to sustaining and expanding the economic partnership between the UAE and India. The tangible impacts of the Cepa are evident in the significant growth seen in sectors such as gems and jewellery, pharmaceuticals, and fruits and vegetables. The council’s dedication to advancing these goals reflects its proactive approach in fostering a strong economic partnership between the UAE and India, catering to a wide range of industries and promoting bilateral cooperation. The signing of the MoU with the ICC marks a new chapter in strengthening economic and trade relations between the two nations, paving the way for increased collaboration and mutual benefits for businesses on both sides.
