Private schools in Ras Al Khaimah will undergo regulation by a new government entity, as announced by the Ministry of Education (MoE) on Friday. The responsibility to oversee the emirate’s private education sector will be gradually transferred to Ras Al Khaimah Department of Knowledge (Rakdok), according to a statement by the authority published on news agency Wam. This transition is expected to take place in phases until the end of the year, with the MoE signing a memorandum of understanding with Rakdok to solidify the strategic collaboration.

The knowledge department plans to introduce a new approach aimed at improving educational services in Ras Al Khaimah and aligning with international standards. This move comes at a time of rapid development in the emirate’s education sector, highlighted by Abdul Rahman Al Naqbi, a member of Rakdok’s Board of Directors. Al Naqbi emphasized the opportunity presented by the partnership with the MoE to elevate educational standards to international levels and cater to the diverse needs of students, including those with determination. Currently, Ras Al Khaimah boasts 107 public and private schools offering various curricula, with the emirate recently joining the global network of learning cities by Unesco in 2022.

Rakdok is structured into four main departments overseeing different aspects including institutional licensing and compliance, operations management and customer relations, quality management and evaluation, as well as strategies and policies. These departments work together to create a comprehensive system for all levels of education. The MoE has pledged full support to Rakdok, with Rabaa Ali Al Sumaiti, undersecretary for performance improvement at MoE, highlighting the ministry’s goal of advancing the education sector’s growth to fulfill students’ potential and attract top international educational institutions to operate in Ras Al Khaimah.

The partnership between the MoE and Rakdok is seen as vital for raising educational standards in the emirate and keeping pace with global educational trends. By focusing on improving educational services and adopting international best practices, Rakdok aims to create a conducive environment for students to thrive and succeed. The implementation of a comprehensive regulatory framework for private schools will ensure transparency and accountability, ultimately benefiting the students and the education sector in Ras Al Khaimah. This strategic collaboration is a step towards enhancing the quality of education and ensuring better outcomes for all students in the emirate.

In conclusion, the initiative to regulate private schools in Ras Al Khaimah through the new government entity, Rakdok, is set to bring about positive changes in the education sector. By aligning with international standards and focusing on improving educational services, the emirate aims to enhance the overall quality of education and provide a conducive learning environment for students. The partnership between the MoE and Rakdok signifies a commitment to elevating educational standards and meeting the diverse needs of students in Ras Al Khaimah. With the integration of various departments and a comprehensive regulatory framework, the education sector in the emirate is poised for growth and development, ultimately benefiting students and stakeholders alike.
