The Qatar Goodwood Festival, sponsored by the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club, has been a huge success this year with a significant turnout of spectators. The five-day racing extravaganza will conclude on Saturday, 3rd August with the Gr.2 Qatar Lillie Langtry Stakes as the main feature. The race will see 12 fillies and mares compete, including Group 2 winner Melo Melo and last year’s winner Sumo Sam.

On the fourth day of the festival, Wathnan Racing experienced a quick-fire double with wins in the Regent Seven Seas Cruises Bentinck Conditions Stakes and the Hawes & Curtis Nursery Handicap. Haunted Dream and Artagnan, both trained by Wathnan Racing, emerged victorious under the guidance of jockeys James Doyle and David Egan. Ali bin Yousef Al Kubaisi and Ali bin Yousef Al Rumaihi received the winning owner’s trophies after each race.

In a thrilling race on the fourth day, Big Evs, owned by RP Racing Ltd and trained by Michael Appleby, won the Gr.2 King George Qatar Stakes. Ridden by Tom Marquand, the three-year-old colt held off a late challenge from Asfoora to secure the victory. Bred by Rabbah Bloodstock Limited, Big Evs is out of Hana Lina, a daughter of the Gr.1 winner Queen’s Logic. Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al-Sulaiti of Katara Cultural Village presented the winners with their trophies after the race.

The success of the Qatar Goodwood Festival highlights the popularity and importance of horse racing in the UK and Europe. With competitive races and top-quality horses, the festival has entertained fans and enthusiasts alike. The presence of esteemed figures such as Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al-Sulaiti and Ali bin Yousef Al Kubaisi adds to the prestige of the event and showcases the significance of the partnership between Qatar and the equestrian world.

As the Qatar Goodwood Festival comes to a close, fans can reflect on the excitement and drama that unfolded over the five-day event. From thrilling races to unexpected wins, the festival has provided entertainment and enjoyment for all. The dedication of owners, trainers, jockeys, and spectators has contributed to the success of the event, underscoring the passion and love for horse racing in the community. With the curtain set to fall on another successful year, anticipation builds for the next edition of the Qatar Goodwood Festival.
