Younousse and Tijan aim for a crucial victory

In the 2024 Olympics, Qatar’s beach volleyball duo, Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan, are set to face the world’s number one men’s pair, Sweden’s David Ahman and Jonatan Hellvig. The match will take place at the purpose-built beach court at the foot of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Younousse and Tijan had a strong start by defeating Italy’s Paolo Nicolai and Samuele Cottafava in their opening match. Tijan stressed the importance of winning the difficult opener and noted that the upcoming clash against Sweden will be tough.

Younousse expressed optimism about the team’s ability to overcome the Swedish pair and advance to the second round. The Qatar Olympic Committee President, H E Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, along with FIFA President Gianni Infantino, celebrated the team’s victory with other Qatari officials. The goal for Younousse and Tijan in the Paris Olympics is to achieve a great accomplishment and bring joy to the Qatari audience. The President of the Qatar Volleyball Federation, Ali Ghanem Al Kuwari, highlighted the importance of overcoming the Italian duo and emphasized the challenge of facing Sweden next.

Younousse and Tijan will conclude the group stage by playing against Australia’s Izac Carracher and Mark Nicolaidis on August 1. The top two teams from each group will directly advance to the round of 16, along with the best two third-place teams. In another event, Team Qatar shooter Saeed Abu Sharib will begin his journey in the men’s trap shooting qualification. Abu Sharib qualified for the Paris Olympics after winning the silver medal in the men’s trap event at the Asian Shooting Championship. Rashid Saleh Al Athba, who won the bronze medal in the World Shooting Championship (skeet) in Croatia, will also be participating in the shooting events.

Overall, Qatar’s athletes are looking to make a mark in the 2024 Olympics, with Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan facing a tough challenge against the world’s number one men’s beach volleyball pair from Sweden. The team had a strong start by defeating the Italian duo and are optimistic about their chances in the upcoming matches. The goal is to achieve a great accomplishment and honor Qatari sports at the Olympics. In another event, shooter Saeed Abu Sharib will compete in the men’s trap shooting qualification, aiming to showcase his skills and make his mark in the competition. With high hopes and determination, Qatar’s athletes are ready to take on the world’s best and bring glory to their country.
