UAE’s Mohamed Othman qualifies for 100m wheelchair final at the Paris Paralympics

Mohamed Othman, a Paralympic athlete from the UAE, showcased an excellent performance at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games, keeping the country’s medal hopes alive. Othman qualified for the final of the 100m wheelchair race after finishing fourth in the heats. The final is set to take place on Monday at the Stade de France. Additionally, Ahmed Al Bedwawi represented the UAE in the 1,000m time trial cycling track qualification in the “C5” category, finishing 22nd with a time of 1:13.100 minutes.

In the shooting events, Ayesha Al Shamsi and Ayesha Al Muhairi participated in the mixed 10m air pistol standing qualification for the SH2 category. Al Shamsi secured the 14th position with a score of 630.1 points, while Al Muhairi finished 22nd with a total of 626.7 points. In athletics, Noura Al Ketbi and Dhekra Al Kaabi competed in the F32 category club throw finals. Al Ketbi finished eighth with a distance of 20.69 metres, while Al Kaabi secured ninth place with a throw of 20.29 metres.

On the following day, Abdullah Sultan Al Aryani participated in the 10m air rifle standing qualification, scoring 618.3 points. Despite finishing ninth, only the top eight shooters advanced to the finals. Another UAE athlete, Obaid Al Dahmani, finished 13th in the same event with a total of 613.9 points out of 18 participants. The UAE’s representation in various sports highlights the country’s commitment to excellence in Paralympic competitions.
