Ooredoo recently announced the highly anticipated Doha Marathon by Ooredoo 2025, set to take place on Friday, January 17, starting at Hotel Park and running along Doha’s beautiful Corniche. A press conference was held to unveil these exciting details, with key figures such as Sabah Rabiah Al Kuwari, Vice Chairman of the Doha Marathon by Ooredoo Committee, in attendance. Al Kuwari shared that the event has grown to become a local and regional landmark, with four categories included in the marathon: 5 kilometers, 10 kilometers, 21 kilometers, and 42 kilometers.
Individuals with disabilities can participate in distances up to 21 kilometers, with free registration available for this category. Furthermore, the ‘Al Adaam’ category, supporting Qatari participants, will offer special cash prizes for the third consecutive year. The total prize pool will exceed one million Qatari riyals, including two Toyota cars to be raffled among all race finishers. Al Kuwari expressed hopes of welcoming 15,000 runners this year, encouraging everyone to take advantage of the early bird discount available until October 30 on the dedicated Marathon website. As a charitable gesture, part of the registration proceeds will go to charity, as has been the tradition for the past 12 years.
Mohammed Essa Al Fadala, President of the Qatar Athletics Federation, commended the success of the Doha Marathon by Ooredoo, highlighting the introduction of new ideas and sponsors each year. He announced that the top three winners of the “Al Adaam” category will be invited to participate in future marathons organized by the Federation, further motivating participants to give their best during the event. The President reiterated the importance of safety, with Major Fahad Bouhendi Al Harami from the Ministry of Interior emphasizing that measures will be in place to ensure a smooth traffic flow and secure environment for all participants.
Participants can look forward to the Marathon Village opening on January 14, where they can collect their race kits until January 16. The village will also feature various entertainment activities for the enjoyment of both participants and spectators. A new addition to this year’s marathon is a full day of youth races on Thursday, January 16, at Hotel Park, providing an opportunity for kids and juniors to take part in the event as well. The emphasis on youth involvement showcases the commitment to promoting a healthy and active lifestyle among the younger generation, fostering a love for running and fitness from a young age.

With a variety of categories catering to different abilities and special cash prizes for Qatari participants, the marathon stands as a beacon of inclusivity and community engagement.
