Saud Abdulhamid, a 25-year-old football player from Saudi Arabia, has made history by completing a transfer to AS Roma, making him the first player from the Kingdom to join one of Europe’s elite football leagues. Abdulhamid, a Roshn Saudi League winner with Al-Hilal, is set to wear the prestigious No.12 jersey for the Italian Serie A giants. His arrival in Rome was met with significant fanfare after a successful medical examination sealed the deal on Monday.

Abdulhamid’s journey from the local pitches of Riyadh to the international grounds of Rome is not only a personal achievement but a significant milestone for Saudi footballers looking to compete on the global stage. Starting his professional career at Al-Ittihad and later becoming a key figure at Al-Hilal, Abdulhamid’s career has been marked by relentless ambition and skill. He has won the league title twice, as well as the King’s Cup and the Saudi Super Cup twice during his time at Al-Hilal.

In the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Abdulhamid showcased his international caliber, especially during Saudi Arabia’s stunning 2-1 victory against Argentina. As AS Roma welcomes its newest defender, the club and its fans are eager to see how Abdulhamid adapts and excels in the challenging and competitive environment of Serie A. This move not only represents a change in leagues for Abdulhamid but also sets a precedent for Saudi athletes everywhere.

Having been nurtured by the Saudi Pro League, Abdulhamid now steps onto a bigger stage, ready to showcase the talent of Saudi football to the world. His story serves as an inspiration for many young Saudi athletes, demonstrating that with talent, determination, and the right opportunities, the football fields of Europe are within their reach. Abdulhamid’s transfer to AS Roma marks a significant moment for Saudi football and paves the way for more players from the Kingdom to make their mark on the international stage.
