Qatar is set to participate in the Gulf Youth Basketball Championship (U-18) in Kuwait, starting their campaign against the UAE on July 29. The tournament will take place at the Etihad Hall of the Sheikh Saad Al Abdullah Al Sabah Complex, with Qatar facing off against the hosts on July 31 in their second Group A match. Other teams in the tournament include Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Oman in Group B, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals.
The groups were based on the results of the previous edition of the tournament in the UAE in 2022, and the winner and runner-up will qualify for the Asian Youth Cup scheduled to be held in Jordan in 2024. Secretary General Al Kuwari emphasized that Team Qatar has undergone intense preparations for the Championship, including vigorous training sessions to ensure top results. He expressed confidence in the team’s potential to excel in Kuwait and secure qualification for the Asian Cup.
The tournament will run from July 29 to August 3, with the final day featuring the third-place play-off at 5:00 pm and the title clash at 7:30 pm. The event also serves as a qualifier for the Asian Cup, adding to the stakes for all participating teams. Qatar Basketball Federation President Mohammed Saad Al Mughaiseeb announced the match schedules and expressed optimism about the team’s performance.
The Gulf Youth Basketball Championship provides a platform for young basketball enthusiasts to showcase their talent and compete at a regional level. It allows players to gain international exposure and experience, representing their country with pride. The tournament also fosters camaraderie among Gulf nations, promoting sportsmanship and friendship through competitive games.
The Qatari team will look to make a mark in the championship, aiming to secure victories and advance to the later stages of the competition. With their dedicated preparations and high expectations, the players are motivated to give their best on the court and make their country proud. The championship serves as a crucial stepping stone for the team’s development and growth in the world of basketball.
As the tournament unfolds, fans and supporters eagerly anticipate the performances of their favorite teams, cheering them on from the sidelines and celebrating each success. The Gulf Youth Basketball Championship promises exciting matches, intense rivalries, and memorable moments for players and spectators alike. With a competitive spirit and a drive for excellence, teams from across the Gulf region will compete for glory and the opportunity to represent their nations on the international stage.
