The Bangladesh Cricket Board’s President Faruque Ahmed and CEO Nizam Uddin Chowdhury recently met with the Chairman of Emirates Cricket Board, Nahyan Mabarak Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi. The meeting, which was attended by ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice and other ECB officials, focused on the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Bangladesh 2024, which is scheduled to be hosted in the UAE. The tournament was moved to the UAE from Bangladesh last month and will take place in Dubai and Sharjah from October 3 to October 20.

During the meeting, the BCB confirmed that they will remain the hosts of the tournament while the ECB will be responsible for delivering the event. Chairman ECB, Nahyan Mabarak Al Nahyan expressed his excitement about staging the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in the UAE, praising the hosting capabilities of the Emirates Cricket Board. He thanked the ICC and BCB for their trust in the ECB, and assured that top-class cricketing facilities will be provided throughout the tournament, where the best in the women’s game will compete for the ultimate glory in the T20 format.

President BCB, Faruque Ahmed also expressed his gratitude towards the Emirates Cricket Board for stepping up to host the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Dubai and Sharjah. He highlighted the long history of the two venues in hosting international cricket, including major world events, and expressed confidence in the ECB’s ability to successfully stage the tournament. The close relations between the two boards were emphasized, and both boards look forward to collaborating closely with the ICC in delivering a successful tournament.
