Portugal superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is gearing up to make more European Championship history this summer. The 39-year-old veteran forward expressed his determination to lead his team to another major international trophy to add to their singular triumph at Euro 2016. Portugal is set to start their tournament against Czech Republic in Leipzig, with Ronaldo making a record-extending sixth appearance at the Euros. Despite facing tough opponents, including Turkey and Georgia, Ronaldo believes that his team deserves to win a competition of this magnitude.

Ronaldo, who currently plays for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, recently extended his international goals record to 130 with two goals against the Republic of Ireland in a friendly match. With 14 goals at European Championships, he is the competition’s all-time top scorer, surpassing France great Michel Platini. Having first appeared at the tournament in 2004, Ronaldo has scored in every edition since, showcasing his incredible consistency and longevity on the international stage. If he scores in Germany, he will become the oldest ever Euros goalscorer, breaking the record currently held by Austria’s Ivica Vastic.

Despite facing doubts about his performance on the international stage, Ronaldo remains motivated to continue representing his country. Manager Roberto Martinez has shown faith in the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, who started every qualifier he was available for and scored eight goals in the process. Ronaldo admitted that he still experiences nerves before matches, even after achieving a men’s record 207 caps for Portugal. However, his ambition and determination serve as fuel for his teammates to thrive and succeed alongside him.

While Portugal is considered one of the favorites to lift the trophy, their opponents, the Czech Republic, have not gone beyond the quarter-finals in 20 years. Led by Slavia Prague’s Tomas Holes, the Czech team will need to find a way to stop Ronaldo, who has been a dominant force on the international stage for two decades. Despite the challenges ahead, Ronaldo’s teammates are confident in their ability to go far in the tournament if they follow his lead and take it step by step. One of the few challenges remaining for Ronaldo is to score a hat trick at the tournament, a feat last achieved by Spain’s David Villa in 2008.

In conclusion, Cristiano Ronaldo’s presence and determination to succeed at the European Championship showcase his unparalleled skill and dedication to his country. As he prepares to make his sixth appearance at the tournament, Ronaldo’s goal-scoring record and leadership on the field provide Portugal with a strong foundation to pursue another major international trophy. With the support of his teammates and the guidance of manager Roberto Martinez, Ronaldo’s ambition and drive will continue to inspire those around him as they aim to make history at the Euros.
