Chinese tennis player Zheng Qinwen is determined to break the pattern of underperforming after big tournaments as she aims for a successful run at the US Open following her historic gold medal win at the Olympics. The 21-year-old has previously struggled to maintain her performance levels after major success, but she is focused on avoiding a repeat and claiming her first major title.

In her first-round match at the US Open, Zheng fought back from a set down to defeat American Amanda Anisimova. Reflecting on her past experiences, Zheng acknowledged that she tends to lose focus after achieving significant success. However, this time she is determined to stay grounded, work hard, and maintain a stable mindset to continue her winning streak.

Despite her previous setbacks following major accomplishments, such as a first-round exit at the China Open after the US Open quarterfinals and a sub-par performance after reaching the Australian Open final, Zheng is determined to learn from her past mistakes and remain humble. She understands the importance of starting fresh with each tournament and fighting hard in every match to avoid another disappointing outcome.

Zheng’s next challenge at the US Open will be against Russian player Erika Andreeva in the second round. As she continues her quest for a deep run in the tournament, Zheng remains focused on staying motivated, maintaining a positive mindset, and giving her best effort on the court. With her sights set on her first major title, Zheng is determined to write a new chapter in her tennis career and avoid the post-success setbacks she has experienced in the past.
