Lionel Messi, the star player of the Argentina national team, will be missing the final Copa America group game against Peru due to a muscle injury. The assistant coach, Walter Samuel, stated that Messi is day-by-day following an injury to his right adductor muscle. While acknowledging Messi’s absence, Samuel expressed confidence in the team’s ability to perform well without him, pointing to their previous successful performances in similar situations.

Argentina has already secured a spot in the quarter-finals after winning their first two matches against Canada and Chile. A draw in the upcoming game against Peru will ensure Argentina’s qualification as group winners. Despite the importance of resting key players, Samuel emphasized the team’s commitment to seeking victory against Peru. The coach also highlighted the quality of the Peruvian team and the need to approach the game with seriousness.

The absence of Lionel Messi in the lineup against Peru will likely see veteran Angel Di Maria take his place. Samuel downplayed the impact of Messi’s absence, citing the team’s ability to perform well even when he is not on the pitch. While Argentina is focused on securing a win against Peru, the team will also prioritize player rest and rotation ahead of the knockout stages to keep players fresh and avoid injuries.

Coach Lionel Scaloni will be serving a one-game suspension during the match against Peru, with Samuel taking charge on the bench. Scaloni and Argentina received sanctions for being late to emerge for the second half in previous matches. Samuel mentioned that Scaloni was disappointed about the suspension, emphasizing that the coaching staff has always maintained a high level of professionalism without previous incidents of sanctions.

The game against Peru at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami is crucial for both teams, with Peru looking to secure qualification to the quarter-finals. While Argentina is favored to win, Samuel stressed the need for caution and respect towards their opponents. The coaching staff is focused on maintaining the team’s competitive edge while managing player fatigue and injuries as they progress through the tournament.

In conclusion, Lionel Messi’s absence against Peru will test Argentina’s depth and resilience as they aim to continue their winning streak in the Copa America. The coaching staff remains confident in the team’s ability to perform well and secure a victory, despite key players being rested. With the knockout stages approaching, Argentina will need to balance performance with player management to ensure they are in prime condition for advancing in the tournament.
