Longines Hathab: Cherif excels in Big Tour while Al Qadi clinches victory in the Open Class

The Qatar Equestrian Federation’s Indoor Arena witnessed an exciting conclusion to the second leg of the Longines Hathab – Qatar Equestrian Tour, where defending champion Cyrine Cherif shone once again. Astride Triple T Calamando Blue, she secured first place in the 145cm Big Tour class with a flawless jump at 57.97 seconds, taking home a grand prize of QR33,000. Cherif also claimed third place in the same event riding Van Gallettana Z, with a time of 59.5 seconds and four penalties, adding QR18,000 to her total winnings.

Hamad Nasser Al Qadi, a seasoned Qatari rider, finished in second place in the Big Tour class on his eight-year-old bay mare Stella, completing the course in 58.36 seconds with four faults. Al Qadi took home a prize of QR26,500 for his efforts. Nasser Al Ghazali and Dexter came in fourth place with a time of 59.50 seconds, while Sheikh Khalifa Al Thani and Emiro Delle Sementarecce rounded up the top five, finishing in 61.51 seconds.

The winners of the Big Tour were crowned by the Ambassador of Qatar to the Republic of Azerbaijan, H E Faisal bin Abdullah Hamad Al Hanzab, adding prestige to an already thrilling event. In the 120cm Open Class, Ghanim Nasser Al Qadi and his bay mare Chanel D’Altenbach showcased impressive rounds, clocking in at 36.59 and 15.96 seconds, respectively, to claim victory and a prize of QR6,250. Hussain Saeed Haidan and Jaber Rashid Al Amri took second and third place, respectively, in the Open Class, earning QR5,000 and QR3,750 in prize money.

Overall, the event was a success, with riders from Qatar and beyond showcasing their skills and talents in the world of equestrian sports. The Longines Hathab Tournament Director, Faisal Al Kahla, rewarded the winners of the Open Class, further highlighting the excellence and sportsmanship displayed throughout the competition. With such high levels of competition and camaraderie on display, the future of equestrian sports in Qatar looks bright, with riders like Cyrine Cherif and Hamad Nasser Al Qadi leading the way towards even greater success in the future.
