Japan started their third round of Asian World Cup qualifiers with a bang, thrashing China 7-0 in a statement win. Premier League stars Kaoru Mitoma and Wataru Endo both found the back of the net in a dominant performance that showcased Japan’s strength. Mitoma, who had been sidelined with injury, returned to the national team in style, scoring a first-half header. Liverpool’s Endo opened the scoring for Japan, while Takumi Minamino added two more goals after the break. Junya Ito, making his comeback to the team, also found the back of the net along with late goals from Daizen Maeda and Takefusa Kubo.

China, who barely made it to the third qualifying round, had a night to forget as they were outplayed by Japan. Despite an early scare when Ritsu Doan tested the goalkeeper, Wang Dalei, with a header, China was unable to keep Japan at bay. Endo’s opening goal set the tone for Japan’s dominance, with Mitoma adding a second just before half-time. Minamino’s brace in the second half put the game out of reach for China, who struggled to contain Japan’s attacking prowess throughout the match.

The victory puts Japan in a strong position in Group C, which also includes Australia, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Indonesia. The top two teams from the group will secure a spot at the World Cup, while the third and fourth-placed sides will enter another round of qualifying. Despite their impressive start, Japan will face tough competition from the other teams in the group, making each match crucial in their quest for World Cup qualification.

The match against China also marked the return of Junya Ito to the national team after missing out on previous fixtures. Ito had been embroiled in controversy following allegations of sexual assault, which he denied, leading to his exclusion from the Asian Cup squad. However, Japanese prosecutors dropped the charges against Ito last month, allowing him to make a comeback to the national team. His goal against China symbolized a fresh start for the talented winger as he looks to put the past behind him and focus on his football career.

With a strong squad led by manager Hajime Moriyasu, Japan showcased their attacking prowess and defensive solidity in the victory over China. The team’s performance was a testament to their quality and determination to secure a spot in the World Cup. The fans at Saitama Stadium witnessed a dominant display that sent a clear message to their rivals in the qualifiers. As Japan prepares for the upcoming matches in the third round, they will be looking to build on their momentum and continue their quest for World Cup qualification.

In conclusion, Japan’s emphatic win over China in the third round of Asian World Cup qualifiers highlighted the team’s strength and quality. Premier League stars Kaoru Mitoma and Wataru Endo, along with other key players, delivered a convincing performance that put Japan at the top of Group C. With tough competition ahead, Japan will need to maintain their winning form and unity to secure a place at the World Cup. The return of Junya Ito to the national team added to the positive narrative of redemption and comeback, adding depth and talent to Japan’s squad. As the qualifiers progress, Japanese fans can look forward to more exciting matches and a potential World Cup appearance for their national team.
