The Brazilian player managed to break back and eventually took the lead for the first time, leading to a fierce battle on the court.

Haddad Maia continued to push forward in the third set, securing a break and maintaining her lead as Kasatkina struggled to keep up. With another break, Haddad Maia sealed the victory when her opponent hit a return long, ending the match in her favor. The Korea Open, held as a WTA 500 tournament for the first time, experienced several last-minute withdrawals including top players like Iga Swiatek, Jessica Pegula, and Elena Rybakina. Despite the challenges, Haddad Maia’s impressive performance showcased her resilience and determination on the court, leading to a well-deserved win in Seoul.
