England’s captain Buttler ruled out of Australia T20 series due to injury

England white-ball captain Jos Buttler will be missing the upcoming three-match Twenty20 series against Australia due to a right calf injury. As a result, Phil Salt will be leading the side in Buttler’s absence, according to the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). Although Buttler has been named in the squad for the upcoming five-match One-Day International (ODI) series against Australia, his participation remains uncertain due to the injury. Allrounder Jamie Overton, who recently made his Test debut in 2022, will be replacing Buttler in the T20 squad. Additionally, uncapped Jordan Cox has been included in the ODI squad as cover, after previously being called up for the T20 squad.

The T20 series is scheduled to take place between September 11-15, while the ODI series will follow from September 19-29. The absence of Buttler in the T20 series will be a significant blow to England, as he is the white-ball captain and a key player in the team. However, this provides an opportunity for other players to step up and make their mark in the upcoming series against Australia.

Despite Buttler’s absence, the England team will be looking to put up a strong performance against Australia in both the T20 and ODI series.
