Jos Buttler, the captain of the England cricket team, is determined to show that they are still a strong competitor in the upcoming T20 World Cup. This determination comes after their disappointing performance in last year’s one-day international World Cup in India. Despite being double world champions, England lost six out of nine matches in the tournament. The team will now face Pakistan in a four-match Twenty20 series before heading to the T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the United States.

Reflecting on their poor showing in India, Buttler admitted that their pride was dented and it was a disappointing competition for them. However, he emphasized the importance of moving on and learning from the experience. He sees the upcoming T20 World Cup as a new opportunity for the team to prove themselves in a different format. As defending champions, England is eager to give a better account of themselves in the upcoming tournament.

Buttler played a key role in the decision to pull all squad members back from the Indian Premier League to prepare as a collective unit. He believes that international cricket should not clash with the IPL and that playing for England should be a top priority for all players. The team is focused on spending valuable time together and preparing for the World Cup. Two players, Liam Livingstone and Mark Wood, are unavailable due to knee problems, while Jofra Archer will make his comeback after being sidelined with injuries.

Managing expectations for Archer’s return, Buttler emphasized the importance of not expecting too much too soon from the talented paceman. The team hopes for his successful comeback, with a focus on his well-being and performance. Buttler’s own availability in the upcoming days is uncertain as his wife is expecting their third child. In his absence, Moeen Ali is prepared to take over the captaincy if needed. Buttler prioritizes his family and plans to be present for the birth of his child.

As England gears up to defend their T20 World Cup crown in June, they face challenges and uncertainties, but they remain determined to show their strength and resilience. With a renewed focus and determination, Buttler and his team are prepared to give their best performance in the upcoming tournament. The team’s preparation and unity will be essential factors in their quest to retain their status as defending champions. The T20 World Cup promises to be an exciting and competitive event, with England aiming to make their mark once again on the global cricket stage.
