Argentina and Spain advance to the semifinals of the World Padel Championships

Argentina and Spain continue to dominate the FIP Padel World Championships in Doha, Qatar, with both teams maintaining perfect records as they move closer to a potential title clash. Argentina’s men’s team advanced to the semi-finals with a convincing 3-0 victory over Chile, led by strong performances from Martin Di Nenno, Federico Chingotto, Franco Stupaczuk, and Carlos Daniel Gutierrez. The team will face Portugal in the semi-final after Portugal beat UAE 2-0 in their quarter-final match.

Chingotto expressed his enjoyment of playing with Di Nenno, emphasizing their long history of playing together and their shared passion for competing in the World Championship. Meanwhile, Spain also secured their spot in the semi-finals with a 2-0 win over Brazil, setting up a match against Italy in the next round. The host country, Qatar, suffered a loss to Belgium in the 9-16 play-offs, and will face Mexico in their next match.

On the women’s side, last tournament’s runners-up Argentina advanced to the semi-finals with a dominant 3-0 win over the Netherlands, keeping their hopes of making the final alive. They will face Italy in the semi-final, while Spain, aiming for a sixth consecutive title, also reached the top four after defeating Sweden 2-0. Spain will take on Portugal in their semi-final match. In the 9-16 play-offs, Belgian women defeated Egypt without dropping a set, while the USA lost to Denmark 1-2.

In other matches, Uruguay boosted their hopes of finishing strong by defeating Germany 2-1, while Japan handed Chile a 2-0 defeat in an exciting tie. Overall, Argentina and Spain continue to showcase their dominance in the FIP Padel World Championships, setting the stage for thrilling semi-final matchups and a potential title clash between the two powerhouses. As the competition heats up in Doha, fans can expect more exciting matches and fierce competition as teams battle for a chance to lift the prestigious championship trophy.
