The highly anticipated President’s Cup final between Al Nasr and Al Wasl took place after 38 years, resulting in a 4-0 victory for Al Wasl. Fans erupted in jubilation as the club secured their third President Cup title after 17 years. Dr Mansoor Alnuaimi described it as the fiercest and most beautiful game he had ever witnessed, while Mohammed Abdullah shared his pride in seeing the team meet the expectations of their fans.

The victory against their archrival Al Nasr added an extra layer of excitement to the win. The last time these two teams met in the final was in the 1985/1986 season, where Al Nasr emerged victorious. Despite enduring nearly two decades without a title, Al Wasl fans remained confident in the team’s abilities, leading to their well-deserved triumph on Friday.

Salem Al Karbi, a Dubai resident and fan, praised the hardworking team for their success, predicting further victories in the upcoming league matches. Al Wasl supporters, including Alnuaimi, are hopeful for a double win in the league, aiming to secure more championships in the future. On the other hand, Al Nasr fans, while disappointed with the loss, are looking forward to a challenging season ahead.

The President’s Cup, established in 1974, is an annual football tournament in the UAE, with the winner qualifying for the AFC Champions League. This year, the trophy underwent a new design crafted by Emiratis, featuring phrases from the national anthem and paying homage to the country’s heritage. The base of the trophy was made from recycled date palm seeds, emphasizing sustainability and cultural significance.

In conclusion, the President’s Cup final brought an exciting match between Al Nasr and Al Wasl after decades of anticipation. Al Wasl’s victory over their rival Al Nasr was a momentous occasion for the team and their dedicated fans, setting the stage for more successes in the future. The new trophy design and focus on sustainability underscore the UAE’s commitment to honoring its heritage and inspiring the next generation of athletes.
