Al Ahli, a Jeddah-based football club, has made a significant signing by securing the services of England international striker Ivan Toney from Premier League side Brentford. Toney, 28, has agreed to a contract that runs until 2028, bringing with him significant firepower to an attack that already boasts stars like Roberto Firmino, Riyad Mahrez, and Feras Al Buraikan. Managed by Matthias Jaissle, Al Ahli finished third in the previous season’s Roshn Saudi League and has started the 2024-25 campaign with one win and one defeat in their opening two matches.

Toney will be looking to replicate his impressive form from the 2022-23 Premier League season, where he scored 20 goals and finished third in the league’s scoring charts behind Harry Kane and Erling Haaland. In his time with Brentford, Toney scored 69 goals in 128 league appearances. The striker, who has previously played for clubs like Newcastle United, Wigan Athletic, and Peterborough United, made his England debut in March 2023, scoring his first international goal a year later and playing a key role in Gareth Southgate’s squad at UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany.

During his time at Brentford, Toney made a significant impact and was praised by manager Thomas Frank, who described him as a fantastic goalscorer, link-up player, and leader, and hailed him as a Brentford legend. Toney is expected to make his debut for Al Ahli when the RSL resumes on September 13 in a highly anticipated clash against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr at Al Awwal Park. With Toney’s arrival, Al Ahli will be hoping to further strengthen their squad and compete for top honors in the upcoming season.

Toney’s signing marks a significant addition to Al Ahli’s attacking options, and his proven goal-scoring abilities will be a valuable asset to the team. With the likes of Firmino, Mahrez, and Al Buraikan already in the squad, Toney’s arrival adds even more depth and quality to an already formidable attacking lineup. Managed by Jaissle, Al Ahli will be looking to build on their previous season’s success and challenge for the top spots in the Roshn Saudi League.

As Toney joins Al Ahli, fans can look forward to seeing the striker in action alongside some of the best players in the league. His experience playing for top clubs in England, as well as his international experience with the England national team, will bring added quality to Al Ahli’s squad. With his impressive goal-scoring record and past achievements, Toney’s presence in the team is sure to bolster their chances of success in the upcoming season.

Al Ahli’s decision to sign Toney demonstrates their ambition and desire to compete at the highest level. By securing the services of a proven goal-scorer like Toney, the club has shown their commitment to building a strong and competitive team capable of challenging for top honors. With Toney set to make his debut in a highly anticipated match against Al Nassr, fans can expect exciting performances and goals from the England international as he looks to make his mark at his new club.
