Harry Kane, the England striker, is currently recovering from a back injury and only played 30 minutes in their recent game against Bosnia and Herzegovina. As England gears up for the European Championship, manager Gareth Southgate is prioritizing getting Kane back to full fitness. Southgate has mentioned that Brentford striker Ivan Toney will also get some minutes in the upcoming friendly against Iceland on Friday.

Southgate has to finalize his squad by Friday and make some tough decisions regarding player selection. While Toney will feature in the game against Iceland, Kane’s fitness remains the top priority. The manager emphasized that achieving all objectives may not be possible, and sometimes certain priorities must take precedence.

The friendly against Iceland holds significant importance as it serves as the final warm-up game for England before the Euro 2024 tournament in Germany. Southgate aims to build on the team’s performance from their last game and believes that Friday’s match will be crucial in ensuring the players are physically prepared for the upcoming tournament. The rhythm of playing matches is essential for all players, regardless of their prior game time, making the game against Iceland an important exercise for the team.

England is set to kick off their Euro 2024 campaign on June 16 against Serbia in Group C. The team will be looking to showcase their strengths and make a strong start in the tournament. With Kane’s recovery being a top priority, Southgate and the team are focused on ensuring that all players are in top form and ready to compete at the highest level in the upcoming European Championship.
