Sohar Port and Freezone in Oman has taken a significant step towards enhancing safety standards by signing an MOU agreement with the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents at the House of Lords. The aim of this collaboration is to work together on occupational safety training and exchange expertise to establish Sohar Port and Freezone as a benchmark in safety standards in the region.

This partnership has already started to yield results as Sohar Port and Freezone were recently honored with the Best New International Entry Award from RoSPA. Additionally, they also received the prestigious RoSPA’s Gold Sector Award for Health and Safety performance for the period between January 2023 to December 2023. This recognition reflects the commitment of Sohar Port and Freezone towards ensuring the highest level of safety for their employees and visitors.

Omar bin Mahmood Al Mahrizi, the CEO of Sohar Freezone and Deputy CEO of Sohar Port, expressed his delight at the partnership with RoSPA. He emphasized the importance of elevating safety benchmarks, sharing best practices, and setting a model for others to follow. By collaborating with the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, Sohar Port and Freezone are paving the way for a safer working environment for all.

Julia Small, the Achievements Director at RoSPA, praised the commitment shown by Sohar Freezone towards safety excellence. By aligning with the royal society, Sohar Freezone has demonstrated its dedication to promoting safety among companies within the free zone.
