The Bahrain Olympic Committee’s Gender Equality in Sports Committee recently announced the launch of the “I Am Talented” program, which aims to uncover talent across genders in various sports. This initiative, which won the Gulf Women’s Sports Hackathon award in Oman, is supported by Olympic Solidarity and aligns with the Committee’s goal of developing champions. Dr. Shaikha Hessa bint Khalid Al Khalifa, Board Member of the Bahrain Olympic Committee and Chair of the Gender Equality in Sports Committee, expressed her gratitude to H.H. Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa for his support in bringing this project to life.

The “I Am Talented” program is designed to identify promising talent in both individual and team sports. Selected athletes will participate in year-round training programs in coordination with sports federations and clubs to enhance their physical and technical abilities. Regular evaluations with relevant sports organizations will track athletes’ progress and readiness, with the ultimate goal of developing Bahrain’s next Olympic champions. The program aims to provide young athletes aged 6-14 with opportunities to excel in seven sports, including fencing, sailing, karate, football, volleyball, handball, and basketball.

By focusing on nurturing new talent across different sports, the Committee hopes to enrich Bahrain’s national teams with fresh potential. The “I Am Talented” program’s emphasis on gender equality reflects the Committee’s commitment to providing equal opportunities for athletes of all genders. With the support of Olympic Solidarity and key figures within the Bahrain Olympic Committee, this initiative is set to play a significant role in developing the country’s sporting talent and achieving success on the international stage.

The program’s comprehensive approach includes year-round training programs and regular evaluations to ensure that selected athletes receive the support and guidance they need to reach their full potential. By working closely with sports federations and clubs, the Committee aims to create a nurturing and supportive environment for young athletes to thrive in their chosen sports. The “I Am Talented” program is not only about developing individual athletes but also about strengthening Bahrain’s national teams and fostering a culture of excellence in sports.

The Committee’s focus on identifying talented young athletes across a range of sports reflects a holistic approach to talent development. By encompassing both individual and team sports, the program aims to provide opportunities for athletes with diverse interests and skills to excel. Whether in fencing, sailing, karate, football, volleyball, handball, or basketball, the “I Am Talented” program offers a platform for young athletes to showcase their abilities and pursue their sporting dreams. Through this initiative, the Committee hopes to inspire a new generation of athletes and contribute to Bahrain’s continued success in the world of sports.

In conclusion, the “I Am Talented” program represents a significant step towards realizing the Bahrain Olympic Committee’s vision of developing champions across genders in a variety of sports. With the support of key stakeholders and the dedication of the Gender Equality in Sports Committee, this initiative is set to make a lasting impact on Bahrain’s sporting landscape.
